Interview with Kumu Hula Pualani Kanakaʻole Kanahele at Waipiʻo tape 1
Kumu Hula Pualani Kanakaʻole Kanahele discusses how all the people of Hawaiʻi must learn to be sensitive to the true Hawaiians: the plants and animals, the streams and the land. She stresses that with each passing generation, more and more of Hawaiʻi's nature disappears. If the nature that makes Hawaiʻi so special is developed, polluted and lost, Hawaiian culture would be lost and Hawaiʻi would be no different from any other developed place. She also talks about traditional divisions of the forest and accessing land in contemporary times. Interview filmed in Waipiʻo Valley on Hawaiʻi Island.
