Interview with W. Richard "Rick" West, Jr., president and CEO of the Autry National Center. The interview was recorded on June 29, 2015 at Autry National Center for the Daniel K. Inouye Oral History Project. Topics include Mr. West's Southern Cheyenne ancestry, how his parents and ancestry affected his career path, Senator Inouye's contributions to the creation of the National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI), becoming the director of the NMAI, Senator Inouye's personable side, repatriation and cultural preservation, designing the architecture of the museum buildings, and Senator Inouye's attraction to "putting things in place," and institution building.
