Interview with Mel Murata and Martin Charlot recorded July 19, 1990 in Waiāhole valley. Murata speaks about Aunty Alice Namakelua being a slack key instructor for the Waiāhole people and how she taught at the Waiāhole Poi Factory where this first interview is conducted. In a separate interview, Martin Charlot speaks about the four months he spent in Kalapana recording the elders of the area. He talks about hearing Fred Punahoa (variant spelling Punahou) play, describing him as a genius. The end of the video includes several takes of Murata playing "Ka Manu," which was one of Aunty Alice's favorite songs.
