Interview with Barbara Kawakami recorded in August 1988 and conducted by Chris Conybeare for the Maids project. On this tape Kawakami discusses how many young Issei girls were maids to military and wealthy families and the working conditions with long hours, low pay, missed meals, and sexual abuse and harassment that occurred on the job.
