Interview with Paul Kim and George Kuo at Taro Growers Festival Hanalei 10/22/95
Interview with Paul Kim and George Kuo separately recorded on October 22, 1995 for the documentary "The History of the Sons of Hawaiʻi." In his interview, Kim talks about his first time listening to the music and noticing the sweet sounds of the steel guitar. He also talks about the Rogers family and their style of playing the steel guitar with feeling, "that's what caught me, the Rogers family the way they play the steel guitar..." In Kuo's interview he shares when he first got interested in playing the guitar; some of the great kī hōʻalu masters which influenced him; and the first Slack Key Festival. This video also includes footage of the Sons of Hawaiʻi performing "Hanakeoki" [composed by Queen Liliʻuokalani] at Taro Growers Festival in Hanalei, Kauaʻi.
