Continued from title 22817, this interview with Don McDiarmid of Hula Records was recorded on August 4, 1996 for the documentary "The History of the Sons of Hawaiʻi." McDiarmid continues to share the stories of the first recordings at the old KPOI studio, originally located on the banks of the Ala Wai canal where the Hawaiʻi Convention now stands. Other topics include how the Sons of Hawaiʻi prepared for their recording sessions which made them easy and trouble-free; promotion of Hawaiian music across Hawaiʻi; how McDiarmid's family enjoyed Hawaiian music; and how no radio stations, night clubs, or restaurants were featuring Hawaiian music.
