Some topics Kamae shares include Kurt Johnson introducing Kamae to Kawena Pukui and Pilahi Paki, who would later become two prominent teachers who helped Kamae in understanding the moʻoleleo (stories) of mele he found while searching the Bishop Museum; the research process; the last night of the Sons of Hawaiʻi playing at the Sandbox and being taken to court by the owners; and Don Ho and Gabby Pahinui having exciting approaches as entertainers leading their audiences into the songs.
