Interview with Moe Keale 4/22/99 tape 1

Interview with Moe Keale recorded on April 22, 1999 for the documentary "The History of the Sons of Hawaiʻi." Keale recalls first hearing the sound of the Sons of Hawaiʻi when he woke up to "Waiʻalae" being sung by the Sons of Hawai'i on the Lucky Luck Show and how it was the ʻukulele that first caught his ear. Keale also tells stories about David "Feet" Rogers; how the Sons of Hawaiʻi had been practicing for three months without "Feet" who was out at sea and came back the day of the recording, hears the songs once and is ready for the recording session. Keale recognizes that through the Sons of Hawaiʻi he gained the experience of becoming a musician and being able to play on stage.
