Interview with Eddie Kamae recorded on February 28, 2000 for the documentary "The History of the Sons of Hawaiʻi." Topics of the interview include how the band got its name "The Sons of Hawaiʻi"; meeting with Mary Kawena Pukui and how she helped set him on his journey into Hawaiian music; meeting with ʻOulu Konanui from Kalapana and the finding the song "Mauna Kea" but only having one verse of it; how Kamae took the song to Pūkuʻi and she wrote eight more verses to the song by listening to Kamae play it for her; how Pukui would tell him to hoʻomau, which means to continue; how he met Pilahi Paki and how she helped him with his research; and how both women, Pukui and Paki, helped him with his songs. Kamae also plays "Maunakea."
