Interview with Bartolome Sablas and b-roll footage of the Yagis, Wakida, and a sugar cane burn 6/19/96-6/20/96

Interview with Bartolome Sablas and b-roll footage of the Yagi family, Shigeto Wakida, and a sugarcane burn recorded on Maui from June 19 to 20, 1996 for the 1946: The Great Hawaiʻi Sugar Strike project. The interview with Sablas is conducted by Teresa Bill and discusses the working conditions on Pioneer Mill Plantation; the boss trying to bust the union, but the union was too strong; how Pioneer Mill went on strike the longest and their militancy; and why the 1946 strike was more successful than the strike in the 1930s. After the interview photographs of plantation and union families are included as well as b-roll footage of Miye and Jan Yagi; Shigeto "Shigesh" Wakida coaching tennis; and sugarcane burning.
