Interview with Gabe Baltazar recorded on April 16, 1987 and conducted by Chris Conybeare for Music from Filipino Camp. Topics include African American players performing and joining Filipino bands in the Philippines while they were stationed there after the Spanish American War; jazz coming to Hawai'i during the World War II years; Baltazar playing live as a teenager; famous jazz players from Hawaiʻi; playing parties all around Oʻahu with his jazz band in high school; moving to Los Angeles and playing with Stan Kenton's band; his relationship with his father and how he would reminisce with him; and teaching his father's style to his students. At the end of the tape Baltazar shows and plays his alto-saxophone.
