Holo Mai Pele Act 1

Hālau o Kekuhi's performance of Holo Mai Pele under the direction of Kumu Pualani Kanakaʻole Kanahele and Kumu Nālani Kanakaʻole. In this first act, Pelehonuamea travels throughout the Hawaiian Islands, and her younger sister, Hiʻiakaikapoliopele, is introduced. After settling in Kīlauea on the island of Hawaiʻi, one day Hiʻiaka, guided by her friend, Hōpoe, dances an interpretation of the Haʻena ocean current, reminding Pele of her romantic relationship with Lohiʻau, whom she met there. Pele sends Hiʻiaka with her companion, Paʻuopalai, to search for Lohiʻau. At the edge of the Panaʻewa forest, they encounter a dragon lizard and a battle ensues.
