Pau Hana Years : Sammy Amato; 1976

Interview with Sammy Amato conducted by Bob Barker recorded in 1976 at the Hawaiʻi Public Television studio for the program Pau Hana Years. Amato discusses his early years in amateur boxing and his various federal jobs before settling in Honolulu in 1946. He also talks about his time working for Mayor Frank Fasi, landing a job at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center [Honolulu International Center] where he eventually becomes the executive assistant and acting deputy director. Matt Esposito, director of auditoriums at the Blaisdell, joins the interview to present a City and County of Honolulu resolution honoring Amato.
