Pau Hana Years : Joseph "Papa" Kanae 1/31/76

Interview with Joseph "Papa" Kanae recorded on January 31, 1976 and conducted by Bob Barker at the Hawaiʻi Public Television studio for the program Pau Hana Years. Kanae talks about his childhood growing up in Honolulu in the early 20th century. He also discusses his career at the United States Postal Service while also working as an entertainer with the Aloha Serenaders [Aloha Airlines Serenaders]. Kanae's bandmates, Sonny Chillingworth, Billy Hew Len, and Jeff Teves, celebrate his 79th birthday by performing several numbers including "Hawaiian Cowboy."
