This video contains footage of Lilia Wahinemaikaʻi Hale [Mama Hale] teaching an adult Hawaiian language class recorded at Windward Community College on November 29, 1995 for the documentary "Hawaiian Voices: Bridging Past to Present." Hale is a guest in Fred Kalani Meinecke's Hawaiian language class at Windward Community College. During the class, friends from Aotearoa come to visit. One subject Hale talks about is Hawaiian names and says children should be called by their complete names so they will grow up with the characteristics of their name.
