Continued interview with Kahu David Kawika Kaʻalakea from title 24877 and recorded in Kīpahulu on June 10, 1992 for the documentary "Hawaiian Voices: Bridging Past to Present." Interview in ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian language). In this interview Kahu Kaʻalakea speaks about ka waiwai o ka hoki ma mua o nā kānaka (a mule is more valuable than people) in referring to plantation life they would say that a mule is more valuable than people; "pehea lākou i hōʻea ʻia ai i kēia ʻāina?" (how plantation workers came to Hawaiʻi); and ka wā keiki ma ke kula (his childhood school days).
