Scenics Waipiʻo and Waimanu Valleys 8/17/92
Scenic footage recorded on August 17, 1992 for the documentary "Hawaiian Voices: Bridging Past to Present." Footage includes aerials recorded from a helicopter ride to the back of Waipiʻo Valley; overlooking Hiʻilawe waterfall; and Ruth Kaholoaʻa in Waimanu Valley. In Waimanu, Kaholoaʻa describes the landscape, referencing place names from the valley to the ocean when she lived there as a child with her kūkū kāne (grandfather) William Kealiiwaanui Kapela and kūkū wahine (grandmother) Poaimoku; and talks about what it was like living there.
