Interview with Kumu Hula Al Makahinu Barcarse recorded on July 10, 1994 and conducted by Martha Noyes for Legacy of Light. Barcarse shares his memories of spending time with Pilahi Pakī, discussing Hawaiian philosophy and the meaning and spirit of Hawaiian language. Barcarse also talks about teaching Saint Louis School students, including George Helm, on Polynesian dance, taking them on a Japan tour, and opening up his home to Helm as he attended Church College of Hawaiʻi (now BYU-Hawaiʻi).
