Interview with Dr. Noa Emmett Aluli recorded on July 11, 1994 and conducted by Martha Noyes for Legacy of Light. Aluli shares his memories of meeting George Helm in the mid 1970s, advocating for Native Hawaiian access rights on Molokaʻi with Hui Alaloa. Aluli talks about accompanying Helm to connect with kupuna across the Hawaiian islands, and, with Walter Ritte, protest the U.S. Navy bombing of Kahoʻolawe. Aluli discusses his and Ritte's arrests and receiving support from the community, including the Native Hawaiian Legal Corporation, Honolulu Chamber of Commerce, and Bishop Estate.
