Interview with Piʻolani Motta recorded on December 8, 1994 and conducted by Martha Noyes for Legacy of Light. Motta talks about her aunt Lena Machado from her early days in entertainment with the KGU radio program to the Machado Troupe and the songs that Machado composed. Motta also discusses Machado's collaboration with the KGU radio station, the origin of her nickname, Hawaiʻi's Songbird, and her participation in the Royal Hawaiian Band. Motta shares how her aunt raised and trained her as Machado continued to work with prominent Hawaiian entertainers and their families up until Machado's death.
