Palace ceremonies 8/12/1998 tape 2

Tape two of ceremonies at ʻIolani Palace recorded on August 12, 1998. The ceremonies commemorate the resistance to annexation of Hawaiʻi and observance of the 100-year anniversary of "Annexation Day" which took place on August 12, 1898. Tape includes Kumu Manu Boyd introducing ʻĪlioʻulaokalani Coalition (see title 26257 for names of some of the members); the coalition performing hula and chanting, leading the crowd in oli (chants); and a speech by Hauʻoli Akaka.
