Palace ceremonies 8/12/1998 tape 3

Tape three of ceremonies at ʻIolani Palace recorded on August 12, 1998. The ceremonies commemorate the resistance to annexation of Hawaiʻi and observance of the 100-year anniversary of "Annexation Day" which took place on August 12, 1898. This tape includes a skit with actors playing the following roles: Samford B. Dole; Hawaiian Patriotic League members Emma Nawahī played by Kalama Niheu, and James Kaulia played by Keoni Verity; nā koa (warriors); U.S. Navy soldiers; and ends with a speech by Queen Liliʻuokalani and James Kaulia. After the skit, Kānaka ʻŌiwi (Hawaiian) rap group Sudden Rush performs.
