Aloha Comrade, 1/10/1989

Aloha Comrade documents a cultural and good will tour of the Soviet Union by Hawaiian musicians and dancers. The Hawaiʻi delegation visits Moscow and Siberia, interacting with the Russians to spread the spirit of aloha. The trip culminates at a cultural fair at Novosibirsk where the Hawaiians perform hula, slack key guitar music, and Hawaiian vocal music to the delight of the Soviet audience. Hawaiian musicians and dancers inlcude Iaukea Bright, Teresa Bright, Frank Kawaikapuokalani Hewett, Albert Kaai, Genoa Keawe, Violet Lilikoi, Kata Maduli, Mapuana Ringler, Mary Kupau, Luana Hopkins, Pat Gooch, Bailey Henderson, Leinaʻala Chung Nalani Badua, Elena Vierra, Kahulu Palmeira, and Miki Masuda. Date on tape says January 10, 1989.
