This is the fourth hour of the broadcast recording of the 35th annual Merrie Monarch Festival hula kahiko competition, hosted by Kimo Kahoano and Paula Akana and with commentary by Manu Boyd. The 1998 program lineup in this hour for the wāhine division includes performances by: Hālau O Ke Ānuenue under the direction of Kumu Glenn Kelena Vasconcellos, Hālau Mōhala ʻIlima under the direction of Kumu Māpuana de Silva, Hālau Kealakapawa under the direction of Kumu Michael Canopin, Kealiʻi O Nalani under the direction of Kumu Kealiʻi Ceballos. For the kāne division: Nā Mele Hula ʻOhana under the direction of Kumu Mark Kealiʻi Hoʻomalu, Hula Hālau ʻO Kamuela under the direction of Kumu Paleka Leinaʻala Mattos and Kumu Edward Kunewa Mook, Hālau Hula ʻo Kahikilaulani under the direction of Kumu Ray Fonseca. Also includes the "Moʻolelo" segment featuring Calvin Hoe on the making of the ipu heke.
