Raw footage of the 37th annual Merrie Monarch Festival's Hoʻike night recorded on April 26, 2000 at the Edith Kanakaʻole Tennis Stadium in Hilo. Awhina ite Kaupapa Maori Cultural Group under the direction of Kirimaaku Kihi and David Rawiri Thompson presents "Tainui," with performances under the theme, "The coming of the Maori and when the HAKA meets the HULA." The evening's program includes performances by Te Vai Ura Nui Tahiti under the direction of Charles and Cathy Temanaha.
