30th Merrie Monarch Festival edited pieces recorded in 1993. This video is an edit tape that contains pieces that were used for the live broadcast and edited programs of the festival. Includes footage of a demonstration of the King's Guard in formation and hula [hālau not known] at King's Village Shopping Center in Waikīkī; interviews with kumu hula; and bumpers which contain hula performances, pictures, and Merrie Monarch logos. Kumu hula interviewed included Kumu hula Kahalepuna Richardson [The Men of Kiaʻi A Ke Aliʻi], Kumu hula Kaulana Kasparovitch [Lehua Dance Co.], Kumu hula Chinky Mahoe [Hālau O Kawailiʻulā], Kumu hula Leimomi Ho [Kealiʻikaʻapunihonua Keʻena Aʻo Hula], Nā kumu hula Olana and Howard Aʻi [Hālau Hula Olana]. B-roll of the hālau preparing for the festival is played throughout the interviews.
