As participants continue working on their canoe carving demonstrations at the International Festival of Canoes under the banyan tree in Lāhainā, Swan, a Maori canoe carver, speaks about the connections between the ocean, canoes and the land. Swan shares his manaʻo (thinking) on this annual event celebrating the Pacific seafaring heritage of diverse cultures known as the International Festival of Canoes.
