Continued from title 26582, interview with Hokulani Holt-Padilla recorded on March 24, 2006 for the documentary "Lahaina: Waves of Change." Holt-Padilla talks about Kauikeaouli, Kamehameha III; the significance of Mokuʻula to Kauikeaouli which enabled him to isolate himself from the pressures of everything around him and also enabled him to come into direct connection with Kihawahine, the moʻo goddess of Mokuhinia pond. Holt-Padilla describes how Lāhainā saw tremendous change over a span of 50 years; and that Lāhaināluna is the pride of Lāhainā and the center of education.
