Arraignment at ʻEwa-Pearl City District Court 9/16/1992 tape 1

Arraignment of the thirteen arrestees at ʻEwa-Pearl City District Court recorded on September 16, 1992. Thirteen people were arrested for trespassing while practicing their religion and protecting sacred sites in Hālawa Valley in the path of the construction of Interstate H-3. Footage includes a lawyer talking with the group outside of the courthouse and the entering of pleas. All plead not guilty except for two who say that the court has no jurisdiction and should be heard in federal court because of Hawaiʻi's legal status.
