The 1989 Smithsonian Festival of American Folklife. Festival held between June 23-27 and June 30-July 4. Speeches continue with Governor John Waiheʻe and Congressman Spark Matsunaga. Includes b-roll footage of crowd including Senator Daniel K. Inouye, Congresswoman Pat Saiki, and Senator Daniel Akaka (congressman at the time of filming). Includes choir from Niʻihau singing church hymns. William Kuwalu is featured in the choir. After the performance, Kalena Silva and a member of the choir are interviewed about coming to the festival from Niʻihau.
