Rice & Roses #1219 : Bread and Roses Too

New York's District 1199 of the National Union of Hospital and Healthcare Employees program Bread and Roses demonstrates how unions have brought the message of the labor movement to its membership and the public. The use of poetry readings, art exhibits, concerts, and street festivals show how the program has been received by the workers and the public alike. Examples of performances include Jane Fonda reading a portion of James Oppenheim's poem Bread and Roses and excerpts of Purlie Victorious performed by Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee. Taped on February 2, 1982. People who appear in the program and not previously mentioned include Pete Seeger, Moe Foner, Olatunji, Roy Brown - Grupo Aires Bucaneros, Ossie Davis, Lewis Cole, Doris Turner, and Leon Davis.
