The 1989 Festival of American Folklife held between June 23-27 and June 30-July 4. Footage includes continuation of children's performances from title 28267 and interview with child dancer about talchum, the traditional Korean mask dance; display of Japanese dolls and a demonstration led by Lisa Hiroe on washi ningyo, Japanese paper doll making; interview with mother Yoshino Majikina Nakasone and daughter Mayuri Nakasone from Nakasone Seifu Kai about Okinawan dance traditions in Hawaiʻi and the different dances performed at the festival, which include oimatsu and higashikuma udui.
