The 1989 Festival of American Folklife held between June 23-27 and June 30-July 4. Footage includes Wah Chan Thom and others demonstrating calligraphy; a Samoan ensemble, with performers Lusia Maʻafala, Gloria Mane, Pita Sala, and Mataitusi Tauala, peforming song and dance for the song "Samoa Ea;" b-roll of fornos Portuguese oven cooking; unearthing kalua pig from imu oven; and b-roll footage of festival booths and festival goers, Vietnam Memorial, and bison.
