Topics include the socioeconomic and organized labor conditions in Hawaiʻi when Bouslog first arrived in 1939, the forces working against organized labor at the time and the tactics they employed, early 20th century plantation labor strikes, the educational opportunities available to the families of plantation workers, the unequal judicial system of that era, the organized labor and activist presence on the University of Hawaiʻi campus, and the role of women in the activist community.
