Interview with Mabel Makekau Andrade and Paulette Henderson 1/4/1990

Continued interview with Mabel Makekau Andrade from title 28703 and interview with Paulette Henderson recorded on January 4, 1990 for the documentary "Luther Kahekili Makekau: A One Kine Hawaiian Man." Tape begins with an interview with Henderson, who was a friend of Luther Makekau's and who painted a mural of him in Pāhoa. Stories with Andrade, Makekau's daughter, include the different kinds of plants Makekau planted on his ʻāina in ʻOpihikao such as taro for food; mamaki, noni and kokolau (also known as koʻokoʻolau) for medicinal purposes; and flowery plants. Also includes b-roll of Pāhoa town and a few takes of an unnamed Makekau friend introducing Andrade.
