B-roll footage and interview with John Hale and Hawk recorded on April 25, 1989 for the documentary "Luther Kahekili Makekau: A One Kine Hawaiian Man." B-roll footage includes shots of the shoreline and land in ʻOpihikao where Luther Makekau lived, and several takes of Eddie Kamae talking with John Hale. Hale shows Kamae where Makekau cooked his food on an open fire, then slept using the fire to keep him warm. Hale shares Makekau's cowboy food recipe consisting of about 10 pounds of pig fat, 1 bag of taro leaves, water, and 1 quart of paʻakai (salt) cooked in a pākini (wash tub). Interview with Hawk includes kolohe (rascal) stories about Makekau, and how he respected Makekau.
