Continued from title 28922, interview with Kumu Hoakalei Kamauʻu recorded on October 29, 1997 at the Mabel Smyth Memorial Auditorium for the documentary "Keepers of the Flame: The Cultural Legacy of Three Hawaiian Women." Kamauʻu continues to share stories of ʻIolani Luahine. Kamauʻu shares a time when Luahine was a young child and danced at the Princess Theater; the way Luahine put her whole being into the dance or chant she was performing; the start of the State Foundation and State Council on Hawaiian Heritage in 1969; and the family hula tradition from which Kamauʻu and Luahine come.
