Interview with Kaʻupena Wong recorded on July 6, 2000 at his home in Mākaha, Oʻahu for the documentary "Keepers of the Flame: The Cultural Legacy of Three Hawaiian Women." Wong, a master chanter, talks about Mary Kawena Pukui being a resource of Hawaiian knowledge. Wong shares his insights about Pukui being very comfortable with acknowledging all of her heritages; Pukui's teachers Ilalaole and Keahi Luahine; and Pukui's kuleana (responsibility) of tethering the present with the past.
