Thompson shares stories about the early years of the Merrie Monarch Festival which began in 1968; Merrie Monarch parades; Luahine being a strict Merrie Monarch judge; Merrie Monarch's move from Hilo Civic Auditorium to its current venue, the Edith Kanakaʻole Tennis Stadium; and a visit from the Queen of Tonga.
