Interview with Patience "Pat" Namaka Wiggin Bacon recorded on November 25, 1995 at the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum for the documentary "Keepers of the Flame: The Cultural Legacy of Three Hawaiian Women." Bacon, hānai (adopted) daughter of Mary Kawena Pukui, shares stories of Pukui and her life's work of preserving Hawaiian culture, language and knowledge. Stories include Pukui's early childhood of being raised by her maternal grandmother Nāliʻipōʻaimoku, also known as Pōʻai; the 1969 Hāna Festival with the Sons of Hawaiʻi; and different traditional hula (dance) and oli (chant) styles.
