Aloha Festivals Paniolo Parade and interview with Elton "Tui" Suganuma 10/6/96

Footage of the 50th anniversary of the Aloha Festivals Paniolo Parade recorded in Waimea on the island of Hawaiʻi and interview continued from title 28958 with Elton "Tui" Suganuma recorded at the Liliʻuokalani Park, Hilo, Hawaiʻi. Both recorded on October 6, 1996 for the documentary "Keepers of the Flame: The Cultural Legacy of Three Hawaiian Women." Parade footage includes scenics of participants marching down the main street of Waimea in celebration of Aloha Week Festivals. Participants include Pualani Kanakaʻole Kanahele and Nalani Kanakaʻole. In the second half of the tape, Suganuma shares more stories of learning from his grandmother Mary Kawena Pukui, including bedtime stories and games like pu (slip knots/tricks) and hei (string figures).
