This reel contains raw footage of Hawaiʻi State Teachers Association (HSTA) leaders and members holding meetings about the impending strike vote in 1973 in the International Ballroom at the Pagoda Hotel. The Department of Education and the HSTA reached an impasse in negotiations for a new contract in which the union felt that their last recourse was to hold a strike vote. Clips include speakers from the meeting as well as several teachers being interviewed about strike-related topics. Recorded in 1973.
