Lawai International Center: A Place Remembered

The Lawai International Center has a long history of being a location of peace, reflection, and healing. Not only did the Hawaiians build a heiau in the valley, but the immigrating plantation workers built shrines there as well. This documentary focuses on the 88 Shingon Shrines that were built by the Issei Japanese population, the restoration of the shrines, and future plans for the Lawai International Center. Recorded on August 26, 2002.
