Reverend Doctor Mits Aoki session with Ulu Mendiola recorded on 7/7/1997 for the documentary "Living Your Dying." Topics include: updates on Mendiola's health, including a new growth on her lung; the recent death of a close friend; the process of grieving; and feelings of loneliness and guilt in her grief. Rev. Dr. Aoki guides Mendiola in a ritual to end her grief by visualizing and speaking to her friend who died. After the ritual the two discuss her medical treatments and use imagery techniques to bring harmony and balance to her mind. Rev. Dr. Aoki explains three steps to help manage pain: affirmation, description and resources. The footage ends with a conversation between Mendiola and her hula sister, Mary Sueoka, about Halau Hula O Maiki. Session spans 2 videotapes.
