Reverend Doctor Mits Aoki hoʻoponopono session with Ulu Mendiola's hula sisters recorded on 12/29/1997 for the documentary "Living Your Dying." Rev. Dr. Aoki moderates and explains the ritual in which each person talks about their relationship with Mendiola, who has recently died. Kumu Hula Coline Aiu describes Hālau Hula O Maiki, Mendiola's role in the hālau and the meaning of hula as a celebration of life. Other topics include: memories of Mendiola; her emotional support for her hula sisters; her strength and sharing her wisdom with others; her respect and honor for her hālau; her connection with her parents; and her joyous and open heart. Rev. Dr. Aoki blesses the river stones given in memory of Mendiola and says a prayer to end the hoʻoponopono. Session spans 2 videotapes.
