This film of a parade and Betty and Howard Liljestrand's December 1941 trip to Hawaiʻi Island includes footage of floats with performers, paʻū riders, views from the plane, landing in Hilo, Rainbow Falls, Kalapana Black Sands Beach, drinking from and eating coconuts, Betty Liljestrand going into a Hakuna horst, lava trees, Kilauea ʻIki, ferns, sulfur vents, earthquake cracks, Halemaʻumaʻu Crater, a horse riding tour, Mauna Iki footprints, lava flows, Punaluʻu, fishermen, a Hawaiian woman collecting leaves from the hala (pandanus) tree and opening up a coconut, Hōnaunau, Kealakekua Bay, Hikiau Heiau, paddling an outrigger canoe, Upolu Point, and Akaka Falls.
