HKG Pilot Project

First Friday : The Unauthorized News : The Plebiscite and the Native Hawaiian Vote (October 1996)

The group discusses the victory of grass-roots organizations such as Ka Lāhui Hawaiʻi over the Hawaiian Sovereignty Election Council's Native Hawaiian Vote. They also give a critique and analysis of the HSEC process and outcome as an example of the United State's pushing plebiscites onto indigenous peoples in America and throughout the Pacific. The crucial question is whether Hawaiians support self-determination or state-determination. Viewer questions and comments are also taken.
