Interview with Kahu David Kawika Kaʻalakea, Ruth Kaholoaʻa, and Lilia Wahinemaikaʻi Hale [Mama Hale] recorded in Hilo on February 29, 1996 during leap year for the documentary "Hawaiian Voices: Bridging Past to Present." Some language may be offensive or inappropriate. This is the first time Kahu Kaʻalakea and Hale meet Kaholoaʻa. They converse in ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian) and begin with a prayer. After the prayer they talk about their childhood days and hard times.
