Conservationist Sam Gon leads a group hike into a mesic forest in Kokeʻe recorded on May 26, 1999 for the documentary May Earth Live: A Journey Through the Hawaiian Forest. The group hikes to and stops at Kalalau lookout where they talk about the native trees and plants seen from the lookout including the Iliau (woody plant related to the silversword), ʻOhia trees, and ʻōlapa trees.
