Interview with Eddie Kamae recorded on November 14, 2007 in Punaluʻu, Oʻahu at "Puna" Judith Flander's house for the documentary "Those Who Came Before: The Musical Journey of Eddie Kamae." Topics include Eddie and Myrna Kamae's drive out to Kaʻaʻawa on this day. Kamae recalls the beautiful elements such as the ocean, waves, waterfalls, and a rainbow which greeted them with aloha. Other topics discussed in this interview are "Kalaupapa" a poem written by Mary Kawena Pukui which Kamae put to music; his times spent with his teacher Pukui; the Hoʻolauleʻa o Hāna Festival of August 16, 1970, the entertainers and the kūpuna (elders) Kamae coordinated with his friend Carl Lindquist; visit to Kaʻū with Mary Kawena Pukui; plus other subjects.
